Driving in Cars with Dragons

When I was a kid I spent a lot of time in the car driving hither and yon, to the nearby suburban mall or the closest shoreline. Phones and whatnot were not a thing so it was read (danger: motion sickness) or stare out the window and listen to whatever music was being played up front.

Both of these methods of resolution could conceivably be done in a car as a passenger.

License plate resolution

While you are in the car (not driving), narrating an action with a chance of failure, whatever number is first in the next license plate the referee spots determines the action impact.

• 1-3 failure
• 4-6 partial success with a complication
• 7-8 success
• 9 critical success

Over Under card Resolution

This requires a normal deck of cards, remove all but the numbered cards. When a player narrates an action and success is not assured, they will draw a card. They must guess if the next card is higher or lower. If they are correct, they succeed. If they guess incorrectly they fail.
